All is set for the introduction of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) services which is expected to enhance public transportation in the country by November.

The Minister of Transportation Mrs Dzifa Attivor, who made this known during the 2015 transport Sector Review Conference in Takoradi, said government has procured 10 buses for the BRT which is currently being used to train drivers.

She noted that tremendous feats have been achieved in relation to road safety records as acknowledged by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

Mrs Dzifa Attivor, said besides the achievements in the road sector, various interventions are being made to enhance rail, water and air transport.

She added that government has secured funds for the sub-urban rail lines, expansion of the Takoradi port, high speed passenger ferries and construction of cargo ferries.

The Minister referred to the establishment of a new national air carrier, construction and redevelopment of the Ho aerodrome as well as the Wa aerodrome.

Mrs Attivor said government would continue to collaborate with the private sector in financing and the delivery of transport infrastructure and services for economic, social and environmental advancement.
