The Ashanti Regional branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is protesting the arrest of the former Deputy Coordinator of GYEEDA, Alhaji Tapsoba.

He was arrested from his residence in Kumasi and transferred to Accra.

It is suspected that his arrest is part of a probe into activities he undertook while in office as Deputy GYEEDA coordinator.

NDC Ashanti Regional Secretary, Kwame Zuh in an interview said the BNI is abusing the rights of Alhaji Tapsoba.

It is only today that we’ve had a confirmation from the Regional Police Command that indeed the gentlemen who went home to whisk him are from the BNI. In fact the wife was worried, she could not confirm the exact nature or profession of people who came to pick the man up so she was wondering and calling all manner of people to enquire where the husband is. It was today that we decided to go to the Police Command to enquire who had come for him and where he was, only to be told that he was picked by the BNI but he’s not even in the Ashanti Region but was immediately transferred to Accra and that is our worry.

“We are all partners in development where there are issues which do not suggest any need for urgency let us not blow it out of the profession and create a drama around an arrest. Where is Tapsoba going that the BNI couldn’t just call him on phone to report at the Headoffice only for them to go to his home where his wife and children are to cause this havoc. It doesn’t make any sense at all, we are all Ghanaians let us sometimes put political and partisan issues aside and wear a human uniform that is the only way that Ghana can grow and become a better nation.” He told Starr News.
