The Police in Takoradi have cautioned the public to desist from rushing to tagging any missing person’s case as Kidnapping following the abduction of three girls in the city.

The advise from the police comes after a 25 year old lady who was said to have been kidnapped resurfaced.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Western Regional Police Command, DSP Olivia Deku, the police is worried about the manner in which people hastily conclude that any missing person has been kidnapped.

“There was also another incisent where a young girl was reported missing, immediately it was all over that the young girl has been kidnapped. Just this morning a gentleman found her loitering around and brought her to the Police station. The information we had was that she was beaten by her mother because she went to sell Ice water and she couldn’t account for the money, after the beatings she left home only for it to be reported that she’s been kidnapped.

“So we’ll appeal to the public and a section of the media not to be quick to assume that any case of a missing person has been kidnapped. The media should also try and cross-check the information before it goes out, because now any little incident people say the person has been kidnapped the next minute the person has returned home.”
