A good number of taxi drivers across the country are on strike.

Live pictures sent in by kasapafmonline.com‘s reporters in some areas of the Capital, Accra, paint a worrying situation, where commuters have been forced to walk long distances to work.

The exercise took off around 7am.

The Ghana Committed Drivers Association had warned they were to going to embark on a strike to register their displeasure over what they say was “unfair treatment” by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).

They argued that the Licensing Authority’s directive to only register commercial vehicles with seat belts will collapse their business.

The Authority has insisted its directive is in conformity with Section 119 of the Road Traffic Regulation Legislative Instrument (LI) 2180.
