Presidential hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Prof. Joshua Alabi has confidently stated that his victory in the party’s upcoming presidential primary will be so shocking to his other competitors including ex-President Mahama and will cause them to unusually sleep early on the voting day.
According to him, he’ll cause a major upset in the contest which he said will be a thriller and cautioned supporters of former President John Mahama not to get ahead of themselves thinking the election is a done deal as they will be laughing at the wrong side of their mouths.
The largest opposition party goes to the polls on February 23, 2019 to elect a flagbearer ahead of the 2020 general elections.
Many political watchers have concluded that ex-President Mahama will win the election by a landslide, but Prof. Alabi has poohpoohed such conclusions.
However speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Joshua Alabi said he laughs anytime he hears any poll result projecting Mahama as the winner of the upcoming election.
“I’ve told you that people will sleep early at the end of the election, I’m boldly telling you this. My confidence stems from the sort of work I’ve done on the grounds, I’ve gone round the constituencies, I’ve given my message and the delegates have bought into my message. It is true that when you’re dealing with delegates you give some plus and minus, but I’m confident that I’ll win resoundingly. A University Professor like me has been made to pay GHC300,000 filing me. If I know I’ll not win the contest why will I throw such money away.”
Prof. Alabi added “During the USA elections, everybody said Hilary Clinton will win and in 2016, everyone said NDC will win but what happened? Even in the Ashanti Region we said operation 1 million votes but what happened? So I don’t believe in polls, when I hear the results of such polls I laugh in my room because I’ve been to the grounds and know what is happening there.”
