The National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Henry Nana Boakye aka Nana B has rendered an unqualified apology for attacking the Communications Director of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Sammy Gyamfi.

A viral video on social media captured Nana B, during a political discussion on Accra-based Asempa FM assaulting Sammy Gyamfi.

It is unclear what might have provoked Nana B to be violent on the show, but the NDC youth in its statement warned that its party members and national officers cannot be subjected to such abuses anymore.

The Youth wing of the opposition NDC wants the Police to pick up Nana B over the assault within 24hrs.

“If by Monday, the arrest has not been effected, we will consider this an abdication of the responsibility of the police administration. We will have no other option than to mobilize our members to demand justice for our comrade.” a statement by the NDC youth wing said.

“While urging the youth of the NDC to remain calm, we implore them to be battle ready to respond in multiple measures if the police refuses to arrest Henry Nana Boakye within 24 hours.”

The statement also called on Multimedia to blacklist Henry Nana Boakye and bar him from appearing on any of their platforms.

But Nana B in a statement apologized for his inappropriate response to what he described as an attack on his person and that of the President.

“Regardless of the repulsive, provocative conduct by the NDC’s National Communications Director on the show which included unacceptable verbal attacks on the President and myself, I am, upon sober reflection, apologising to listeners of Asempa FM and Ghanaians for the manner in which I responded.

“I wish to assure all that, I remain committed to decent, issue-based discourse on our airwaves and that this unfortunate incident will not be repeated.

Nana B added: “I will also encourage my junior brother, Sammy Gyamfi, to be decorous and respectful in his public utterances during such engagements and to, at all times, respect the high office of the President.”
