Nalerigu has been chosen by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the regional capital for the newly-created North East region.

The decision by the President ends the confusion on whether Walewale or Nalerigu was going to be the capital of the North East region.

Speaking during the Presentation of the Constitutional Instrument (C.I 116) for the creation of the North East region at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, the president said: “Nalerigu has been chosen as the capital of the North East region.”

Kasapa FM’s Presidential correspondent, Wilberforce Asare, also reported that the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed has been named as the caretaker Regional Minister for the North East region until a substantive minister is appointed.

The president is yet to announce the capitals for the remaining five regions created.

President will host other delegations tomorrow, 13th, and Friday, 15th of February.

The delegations comprise of Chiefs and people of the new regions who have been invited to the Jubilee House in Accra for the official ceremonies.
