Some heartless and merciless thieves have stormed the Weija Leprosarium in Accra and stolen a water pump connected to a borehole which supplies water to the facility

The theft left the facility without water supply for use by the lepers, a situation which greatly inconvenienced them.

The Chairman of the Lepers Aid Committee, Rev. Fr Andrew Campbell, made the disclosure in an exclusive interview with Kasapa News when Kasapa FM donated assorted items worth thousands of cedis to the lepers.

“We have a borehole and a water pump and everything was going fine and then last Monday night some thieves came here and stole our water pump, with his tools he came to take it away.

“So there was no water supply for the entire facility so we had to go and look round and see if we can get a new pump. How can people do that to people like these, why? How can you come and steal a new pump from our dear mothers and daddies like these, it is so shocking, it is despicable that anyone would even think of stealing a whole pump and the whole lepers are without water for drinking, water for bathing or washing. Lucky enough people at Christ the King Church gave us money for a new water pump.”

Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell outlined inadequate infrastructure, lack of social amenities and inadequate funding as the major challenges facing the Weija Leprosarium.
