One of the National Security Operatives who reportedly took active participation in the violence that characterized the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election at the La Bawaleshie, polling station, Bright Nana Akomea, aka ‘Double’ has told the Emile Short Commission probing the violence that he hitherto was a mobile phone seller before he was recruited into the National Security.
“My Lord, prior to joining the National Security, I sold Mobile Phones at Kwame Nkrumah Circle. I also underwent a three-week training at Asutuare on how to read map, speaking on GoTa and some basic weapon handling as a National Security Operative.”
‘Double’ in his testimony denied ever being a member of pro-ruling party militia, ‘Invisible Forces’ contrary to assertions made by Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Sam George when he appeared before the same Commission of Inquiry.
But what has gotten Ghanaians talking is the fact that ‘Double’ being a national security operative claimed he lacked the ability to string simple English words together to make a coherent sentence, hence appeared before the commission with an interpreter.
Some Ghanaians who found the situation outrageous and absurd have taken to Twitter to express their views.
Below is how they reacted to Double’s situation.
