Students and Alumni of the University of Education, Winneba have called off their planned demonstration which was scheduled for today, Monday, March 18, 2019.

The Students and Alumni in a statement signed by their leader Victor Osei Agyapong said they’re satisfied with the timely and invaluable efforts made so far to ensure that peace and development prevail in the university.

They further noted that they remain firm and resolute in ensuring that absolute peace and order is restored to the institution.

Meanwhile the Governing Council of the university is said to meet this today over happenings in the University.

The institution was shut down last week after a violent demonstration by students for the removal of the Vice Chancellor Rev. Prof. Afful Broni.

The Member of Parliament for Efuttu, Alexander Markin and the University Teachers Association of Ghana are spearheading the campaign for the removal of the Vice Chancellor following the dismissal of several lecturers and staff.
