Following the protest by angry youth of Nuaso at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region Wednesday over continues power outage in the area particularly in the evenings, the Minister of Energy has scheduled a meeting with Leadership of Kloma Hengme at the Energy Ministry, today, Thursday.
The irate residents who claim their lights have been going off consistently at 6pm for the past three days took to the street and blocked a major road and set fire into combustible items on the road creating gridlock as the blockade spread to other parts of the road.
They threatened to beat staff of the Power Distribution Service (PDS) should they step foot in the community.
Two years ago, a feud between residents and workers ECG now PDS turned bloody when angry residents in Somanya attacked the office of then ECG for overbilling.
Police vehicles were torched and properties destroyed in the violent attack.
But the Energy Minister after learning of Wednesday night’s melee sent his Spokesperson and other experts of the Ministry of Energy to Krobo to access first-hand situation of the problem ahead of the crucial meeting Thursday.
Consequently, the Management of Kloma Hengme; the Krobo Advocacy & Heritage Association, has urged for calm among the entire Krobo citizenry they work to resolve the power issue.
They also implored the youth to vacate the streets and abandon all forms of demonstrations.
