Popular music producer and sound engineer, Appiah Dankwah popularly known as Appietus has appealed to investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas to conduct an unofficial inquiry into the activities of the Musicians Union of Ghana [MUSIGA].

The outgoing Talent Discovery and Development Director at MUSIGA made this shocking plea owing to the fact that he believes those elected to run the affairs of the union have refused to duly give genuine account to members.

Explaining some of the corrupt practices he thinks are the reason why members have lost trust in the union, Appietus said the system at MUSIGA, since its inception has never been helpful.

According to him, if a member does not believe in their system, it will be difficult to work with the executive elected.

He stated that MUSIGA has become cartel where favourites are elected to succeed the outgoing to cover up their corrupt tracks.

“I wish Anas will investigate MUSIGA and bring out the truth,” Appietus told Kojo Preko Dankwa on Morning Zoo on Starr FM

He cited an example with the corruption in Ghana Football Association, where Kwesi Nyantakyi was never defeated, but with the intervention of Anas Aremeyaw Anas investigations, he was exposed and removed from office.

“I will not blame Obour and Diana Hopeson because there is a system at MUSIGA, if you don’t obey you can’t work at Musiga”

He continued that, “Just like Kwesi Nyantakyi, no one could have defeated him as president, if not by the intervention of Anas expose against him. I fought with Obour for 4 years throughout his administration.”

The Vodafone Icons reality show judge further revealed that MUSIGA has never been audited by an external auditor.

Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), has set June 28, 2019, as the date for its national elections. This year, members who are eligible to vote can do the same at their regional branches.
