Five suspects have been arrested by the Suhum Police Command in connection with the fatal robbery attack on Chinese Nationals Undertaking One -District -One Factory Project at Asuboi in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern region leading to the death of one of the expatriates Identified as Song Zhao Sheng, 58.
The suspects are Dennis Atta Kwabena Senior and Daniel Atta Kwabena Junior – twins both 34-years-old. The rest are, Kwaku Djin, 19, Yegbe Saviour, 22, and Richard Offei alias Kwadjo Asuboi, 26, all claiming to be Land guards.
On April 14, 2019 at about 3:00am a Police operation team led by the Suhum Municipal Police commander, Superintendent Joseph Owusu acting on information arrested Dennis Atta Kwabena Senior and Daniel Atta Kwabena Junior at Asuboi.
Police retrieved one (1) itel mobile phone, 1 Republic of Ghana students’ laptop computer, a laptop computer and a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were found in the room of suspect Dennis Atta Kwabena Senior while six assorted mobile phones, and a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were also found in the room of suspect Daniel Atta Kwabena Junior.
On the same day around 8:00am, the Police Operation team again arrested suspect Kwaku Djin, 19, at Anom a suburb of Asuboi.
Two other suspects – Yegbe Saviour and Richard Offei alias Kwadjo Asuboi were arrested Monday dawn around 3:00am.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed the arrests to Starr News adding the suspects are in Police custody assisting with investigations.
Starr News gathered that a gang of armed robbers attacked an apartment which housed the Chinese numbering about seven undertaking a One -District -One -Factory Project and robbed them at gun point.
Eyewitnesses said the deceased was hit at the back of his head with a cement block by the robbers after attempting to resist them. The deceased who was bleeding from the nose was pronounced dead when rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital by a police patrol team.
The police team combed the area in an attempt to arrest the suspects but proved futile.
The police said the robbers left with seven mobile phones, 15,000 Chinese Yen, Ghc 37,000 and a laptop.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital Morgue.
