The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur, says her Ministry is making an earnest bid to strengthen policy for social protection in Ghana.

She claimed the Ministry has already launched the Social Protection Policy and some few others which have been approved by Cabinet to consolidate action on social protection in Ghana.

She told host of Morning Starr on Starr 103.5, Kafui Dey,  that government won’t leave any stone unturned to “reduce vulnerabilities in Ghana”.

According to her, because of extreme poverty in some deprived areas, government has opened up the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) to cater for the poor and underprivileged in Ghana.

Government she said has made massive gains in the implementation of the programme(LEAP).

“Ghanaian child in homes covered with LEAP are happier”, she reiterated.

Nana Oye Lithur also noted that the Ministry has also directed attention to improve conditions at the various children’s homes across the country.
