Popular music entertainer, Eugene Kwame Marfo, known simply in showbiz as Kuami Eugene has directed Ghanaians to point the blame finger on Highlife Legend, Amakye Dede for crowning him next King of Highlife.
The Lynx Entertainment signee who has received a lot of backlashes from Ghana’s music community, after the public show of his coronation by legend Amakye Dede as the sovereign of highlife music in Ghana at the just ended VGMA’S, has reacted by saying that it was not his decision thus he is not to blame.
Directly addressing the issue in an interview on SVTV AFRICA, the artiste spoke to the concerns of people that he did not deserve the crown because he is both young in personality and music, Kuami pointed out that it was not something he personally cooked up. Thus if Ghanaians need answers they should take it up with Amakye Dede himself.
“First of all I did not crown myself. Therefore the blame would have to go to Amakye Dede for saying that this boy has done well and thus I should crown him. So for that, it is not my doing.”
“And besides, even if I am not grown, should I die before people will notice that I have done and achieved something small? Should I outgrow myself before people will say that oh this boy has done well and God bless him?”
“I don’t understand why we never value the young as they doing anything good. But anyway, everything is in God’s hands.”
Kuami Eugene further emphasized that the action concerning the Highlife crown on the night of the awards was not a planned event. And thus if anyone says that, then it is a disrespect to the highlife Legend in question since there is the implication that a young man such as himself can have any major sway in the decision making of an adult such as Amakye Dede.
“It was not a planned thing. I mean one, if someone say that, then the person did not give respect to Amakye Dede. So are they saying that a small boy like me can influence Amakye Dede and tell him; please crown me King?”
“He is an adult, and besides that, after we went backstage, he told me that this was from his heart, and I should hold whatever he is giving me very well. For which I thanked him. But whatever you do, people will talk so it’s fine.”
