The Kibi District Magistrate Court on Tuesday remanded into Prison Custody the six accused persons in the murder case of a Teacher at Asiakwa in the Eastern Region after prosecution prayed the court to remand them as it awaits advise from the Attorney General Department.

The accused persons -Richard Amaning,18, Mireku Emmanuel, 19, Philip Kodie, 19,Offei Frimpong, 19, Ezekiel Boadu,20, and Evans Aboagye alias Otega, 19 facing charges of conspiracy to commit crime to with Murder and Murder, will reappear in Court on July 30,2019. Some of the accused persons coincidentally had their birthdays today.

However, the defence Counsel, Peter Nimo says he has filed bail application at the High Court which will be heard on July 5,2019.

Lawyer for GNAT, James Agyeman Fokuo said the Association is following keenly the legal processes to ensure justice is served.

For the Eastern Regional Secretary of GNAT -Daniel Afedu, the Association is using the case as strong signal that the safety of teachers cannot be taken for granted to end several years of community attack on Teachers.

For the family members of the deceased teacher, they will not relent on their efforts to seek justice regardless the time it will take.

Charlotte Aduako Somuah,18, first child of the deceased Teacher who was writing the WASSCE when the incident happened said she was only made known on June 4,2019 after her last paper.She reiterated call for justice to be served.

Scores of residents, family of deceased and Teachers thronged the court again on Tuesday .

Heavily Present at the Court were also Municipal and some Regional Executives of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) as well as dozens of Teachers from Asiakwa.

The deceased Teacher -George Somuah Bosompem,was the Steward of Methodist Church and a Religious and Moral Education as well as Twi Teacher at Salvation Army Basic School.

Prosecutor Mageret Kontoh on May 14,2019 pleaded the Court to remand the accused to enable prosecution conduct further investigations into their birth records in their school to reconcile their real ages as the defence counsel, challenged the ages provided by prosecution stating that all the accused persons are bellow 18 years therefore the case must be tried at Juvenile Court.

Again the defence counsel previously pleaded alibi for two of the accused persons -Mireku Emmanuel ,and Philip Kodie stating that they were not present in the community during the incident which will he says will argued during the committal proceedings.

The late 57 year old George Somuah Bosompem described by many as affable and hardworking, was married to Adwoa Asieduwaa .He had three Children -Charlotte Aduako Somuah,18,-currently writing the WASSCE exams, Kwadwo Somuah Bosompem, 4, and Four(4) month old Kwadwo Abrokwa Somuah. – Kojo Ansah
