Acting IGP, James Oppong Boanuh

The Ghana Police Service has placed a GHC10,000 reward on the heads of the killers of a Policewoman in Tamale.

The deceased cop known as Corporal Agartha was shot dead by unknown gunmen in camouflage army uniform on Tuesday night around 10:30 pm at a checkpoint at Starr Oil filling station at Malshegu near Tamale.

The gunmen took away two riffles -one belonging to the deceased and another female police lady who in panic reaction left her weapon while running away.

Commenting on the incident, the PRO for the Northern Regional Police Command, DSP Mohammed Yusif Tanko urged the public who have information on the killers to help the police to bring them to book.

“It is the responsibility of every citizen to help the Police to arrest anyone who has committed a crime and is on the run. The IGP has gone beyond that and has placed a reward of GHC10,000 for anyone who helps the Police to arrest the killers of the policewoman. Though one will be fulfilling his or her social responsibility, that person will also be rewarded for volunteering information on the killers and so we expect people with information to forward it to the Police.”

DSP Mohammed Yusif Tanko disclosed that the Acting IGP James Oppong Boanuh is on his way to Tamale to visit and console the bereaved family of the murdered policewoman.

He added that investigators have been sent from Accra to Tamale to help identify the killers.
