Stercia Make-up artiste

Ghanaian make-up artiste Stercia Ephabiah has disclosed issues surrounding make-up business in Ghana.

In an interview with Kasapafmonline.com, Stercia revealed she ventured into make-up business because she had the passion for it.

She stated that make-up as a profession is not a profit-making enterprise that an artiste can solely depend on as her only source of livelihood.

According to her, serious Make-up business occurs on weekends because individuals apply their own make-up during the week, as a result, making the professionals lose out on their daily income.

When asked if she is doing other businesses besides her Make-Up work, Stercia posited that she owns an eatery and also into acting.

“Makeup isn’t lucrative enough so I do acting as well to add up to my income.

Making yourself up can’t be compared to a makeup done by a professional artiste.

Learning makeup as a profession should take an individual between 3 months to 6 months. Doing makeup is easy to learn but it all depends on the individual.” CEO of S. T. Beauty Studio

Explaining some challenges make-up artiste face, the owner of S. T. Beauty Studio said customers who are not professionals dictate how they want they want their make-up to be applied on the faces the wrong way.

“Customers usually dictate the pace for makeup artiste on how they want their makeup to look but it is wrong. Every makeup and its occasion.” She said

She added that issues about importation of fake make-up products is also crippling the make-up business in the country.

“Fake makeup products imported into the country are making artistes lose their credibility.

It is unfortunate makeup as a profession in Ghana has no group or any association to regulate the activities of makeup artistes.” She added

Commenting on why she is not into Special Effect Artistry, Stercia indicated that she has no courage to look at it because it is scary.

“I’ve no courage of adding special effect make-up to my profession because it is scary.”

She entreated makeup users to insist on buying and applying quality make-up products to last longer than the inferior ones.

Talking about her acting career, Stercia said she likes Nana Ama McBrown and Jackie Appiah for their dexterity in the acting profession.

“I like Nana Ama McBrown for her versatility and Jackie Appiah for her outstanding personality.”

The young actress has featured in movies like 3 Idiots and the Wise men, Feast of Destiny, I think I like You and other Television series.
