The Melcom Group has dismissed media reports that its Melcom Plus – Kaneshie building is on the verge of collapse.

The company has reassured the public and its loyal customers that the building has been checked and certified safe by expert engineers, adding that the recent Joy News report must be dismissed with the contempt that it deserved.

In a press release, the company said “the ‘cracks’ seen in photo and video evidence are as a result of ‘expansion joints’ (or movement joints) from temperature changes, which are perfectly normal in construction. They are DELIBERATELY implemented for the safe natural expansion of the building. The cracks seen are not actually in the main structure of the building but rather in the decorative POP façade”.

It added that “following questions raised by a Joy News Reporter, we have confidently proven the safety of the Melcom Plus structure with a Certificate of Completion for Habitation issued by the AMA, as well as an Engineers Structural Integrity Certification”

The statement further noted that Joy FM was made aware of this on the morning of the report, and all of their questions were answered.

It ended saying “we reassure the public that the Melcom Plus building in the Industrial Area, Accra is indeed SAFE to visit. We truly appreciate your business, thank you for choosing Melcom”.
