The 10% increment in public transport fares is expected to take effect today, Monday, September 16, 2019.
The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) announced the increment last Tuesday to cover intra-city transportation popularly known as as Trotro, intercity or long distance trips and shared taxis.
Public Relations Officer for the Transport Ministry, Gloria Holm-Graves has urged both the transport operators and the commuting public to cooperate with each other.
“The Ministry is appealing to all transporters and the general public to comply with the new directive” she told newsmen.
The last time fares were increased was in January 2018.
