The Police and Military have embarked on a special joint operation Monday dawn at Madina Zongo Junction in Accra.
At least 300 suspected criminals largely involved in crimes such as robberies and drug peddling within the area have been arrested by the special operation team.
“We conducted a joint police, military operations this morning [Monday] aimed at arresting criminals suspected to be involved in robberies, drug peddling and other criminal activities within the metropolis and its immediate environs…We’ve accomplished our mission this morning. We will be handing over 300 suspects to the Criminal Investigations Department at the Regional Headquarters to investigate and initiate actions that may depend on criminality among others,” Accra Regional Police Operations Commander, Chief Superintendent Kwesi Ofori told Journalists.
The operation follows a similar one at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central region and other parts of the country last week.
That operation led to the arrest of 141 suspected criminals including 15 women who were rounded up.
