Over 4,000 enumerators have given the Ghana Statistical Service two weeks to pay their allowances for last year’s agriculture census.
The enumerators say they are yet to be paid 25% of their allowances a year after they collected data for the census.
They are accusing the Statistical Service of reneging on its promise to pay them their allowances.
The Coalition made up of Enumerators and Supervisors, have threatened to embark Supervisors a “Kum Yen Preko” demonstration against the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) and the Ministry of Food And Agriculture (MoFA) if they fail to pay them their money.
They explained that every effort to retrieve their money from authorities proved futile.
At a press conference in Accra addressed by the President of the group, Ofosu Ansah Martin, they vowed that they shall not sit by and watch the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) to embark on another data collection campaign while it still owes officers of the previous exercise.
They are therefore calling on the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) and the Ministry of Food And Agriculture (MoFA) to pay them the amount due them in not less than two weeks or they face a gargantuan demonstration dubbed: “KUM Y3N PREKO” at the headquarters of the aforementioned institutions.
