The Director of Elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah says the need for compilation of a new voters register has come clear following new findings of multiple registrations.
Korsah stated the EC was in the known of such inherent problems with the register, before the NPP submitted the additional evidence to back its claim, and hence the EC will not drag its feet on resolving the standing issues on the current register in the best interest of the state.
“A day before I submitted the fresh evidence, I spoke to an official from the EC on this exposé. And it was so obvious he wasn’t surprised at all- he claimed indeed they have also realized these in several instances, he told Kasapa FM Monday.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has consolidated its case for a new electoral register following what it says is a fresh evidence that has emerged from their domain.
The party has uncovered the existence of about 50,000 of separate cases of double and multiple registrations, by various persons across the country, in the current register.
“The latest exposé regarding the over bloated register questions the credibility of biometric register and whether a de-duplication exercise was indeed carried out as the EC claimed. De-duplicating the register would have automatically eliminated all double and multiple registrations,” but he insisted there was no such thing, a reason why he stated a new voter register is important to replace the current one.
