Maame Serwaa Aidoo Network Foundation (MSANF), a non-governmental organization, has donated items to children at Nsawam Orthopaedic Training Centre (OTC) on Saturday, November 16, 2019.

The donation was done to commemorate the birthday of the founder of MSA Network Foundation, Maame Serwaa Aidoo on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.

Items donated include; bags of rice, food, soft drinks, toiletries, cooking oil, boxes of biscuits, cartons of milk, cartons of milo, bottled/sachet water, Pack of pampers, stationeries and money in an envelope.

As part of activities to celebrate the founder’s birthday, she was joined by her husband, friends, families and children of Orthopaedic Training Centre to cut a cake and pomp champagne.

Presenting the items to the school, the Founder for the organization Mrs. Maame Serwaa Aidoo said “My mum was a patient at this facility five years ago so I was touched anytime I come to visit her. This pushed me to take this initiative to also put smiles on the faces of  patients admitted here too.”

The Director of the Orthopaedic Training Centre, Sister Elizabeth Newman also expressed immense appreciation for the gesture shown by the foundation.

“I’m very happy to welcome you. The facility started as a centre for polio and has now developed to its current state providing artificial legs and arms to patients who have no legs and arms. Anyone with difficulty in walking should be brought here so the necessary care would be given to him or her,” Sister Elizabeth Newman

The primary purpose of the Centre is the rehabilitation of the physically challenged in Ghana and people from other countries.

The OTC established by the Divine Word Missionaries in 1961, trains patients on how to use their orthopaedic appliances and trains young people on how to manufacture all the appliances needed by the physically challenged including leg braces, shoes, artificial limbs, splints and crutches.
