Private Legal Practitioner, Samson Lardy Ayenini has argued that the Police yesterday manipulated facts in court to enable it get its way through in injuncting , a planned demonstration by pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance and others.

He’s insisted the Police action was clearly a deception of a competent court of jurisdiction to achieve their goal of setting aside a court ruling that had earlier gone in favour of the LMVCA protesters.

Commenting on the issue on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM, Lardy said the prosecution that sought to put an injunction on the LMVCA demonstration today was a terrible blunder which ought to be condemned in no uncertain terms.

He says the move is a dirty trick by the Police to swerve legalities involved in the court proceedings, hence the prosecutor must be dealt with according to law.

“To a large extent, this was  a deliberate attempt to deceive the court; it’s an abuse of the court process. What the Police did was in bad faith-such terrible bad faith. The prosecutor that handled that case must be brought to book. The two judges that presided over the matter will surely be scandalized upon hearing the real substance of the case yesterday.”

The Police on Monday secured another exparte injunction at an Accra Circuit Court to prevent LMVCA protesters from picketing at the EC today [Tuesday].

This comes after an Accra Magistrate court cleared LMVCA and co to picket at the EC, as an earlier injunction sought by the police elapsed its 10-day lawful existence, and consequently paved the way for the group to go ahead with their intended protest.

Mr. Lardy Ayenini  in his submission said that the Police appearance in court the second time was only permitted on notice of the other party, a fact he said the police hid from the High court Judge, which would have ultimately not allow him to hear the case again yesterday.
