An Accra High court has dismissed an injunction application filed by 14 lower court judges who have been found culpable in the massive bribery scandal that has hit the Ghana’ judiciary.

The judges had petitioned the court to stop the work of a five-member committee investigating them after investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas two year investigative piece established their involvement in a bribery scandal.

They contended that the investigative committee put together by the Judicial Council lacks the authority to sanction them, adding that it is only a court of competent jurisdiction that is mandated to try them before any sanction from the service.

Justice Getrude Torkonoo on Tuesday dismissed the case, clearing the Committee to proceed with its work.

The 14 are part of 22 suspended judges allegedly caught on tape taking bribes by the investigative journalist.

The plaintiffs were William Baffoae, Emmanuel Kofi Sunu, Benjamin Yaw Osei, Kodwo Filson, Seyram Tsatsu Azumah, Isaac Akwantey and Florence Ninepence, who are all Circuit Court judges. The others who are District Magistrates are Jacob Amponsah, Alfred K.A Mensah, Albert Zoogah, Isaac Amoah, Michael Gyamfi Boamah, Paul Alhassah, Stephen Assure and Emmanuel Kofi Sunu.
