The ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) says it does not begrudge policy think-thank IMANI on its assessment of the Akufo Addo administration vis-a-vis delivery of its campaign promise but believes it has performed far better than the score given the government.

IMANI Africa has scored the Akufo-Addo government 48.78% in the delivery of its campaign promises so far.

They also scored the government 54.35% for its handling of the economy. The manifesto assessments by IMANI which was outdoored Wednesday said government has only implemented 41 out of the 162 promises it made in the party’s 2016 manifesto.

But speaking to Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5FM, Deputy Communications Director of the NPP, Yaw Preko stated that the government upon assuming power has done several things to improve the lives of Ghanaians even though it never promised that in its manifesto.

He said the majority of Ghanaians who have seen a positive change in their lives since 2017 will do their assessment on what the NPP said it will do and has done.

“NPP introduced NABCo which has effectively collapsed the Unemployed Graduates Association which existed before 2017 but that was not our manifesto promise but we’ve done that. Let the youth of Ghana who stayed home for several years after school to say what NABCo has done to improve their lives. About 100,000 young graduates at least have a form of employment that never existed before the NPP came to power. Let these people assess the government and tell you what they think.”

Yaw Preko added: “Teachers and nurses who prior to the coming to power of the NPP stayed home for three years after school because an IMP programme had caused the freezing of public sector employment now have work to do. Whether this was a manifesto promise or not, they now have jobs to do. These people will assess the government and state how they feel. IMANI is entitled to its findings, but other people in other sectors see differently.”
