About twenty-three (23) persons are seriously injured in multiple accidents on the Nsawam stretch of the Accra to Kumasi Highways.

The near-fatal multiple vehicle collision involved three Vehicles – a Sprinter Bus, Hyundai10 and a Toyota Corolla occurred Tuesday, January 7, 2020.

All the injured victims including drivers of the vehicles were rushed to Nsawam Government Hospital but those in critical conditions were expected to be referred to the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for advanced treatment.

The multiple-vehicle crash occurred when the speeding Sprinter Bus fully loaded with passengers hit the back of the Hyundai10 which had slowed down on a speed ramp on the Adoagyiri bypass adjacent the new mortuary causing the Sprinter Bus to somersault.

The Toyota saloon Car which was following the Sprinter Bus also rammed into it.

A Deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in Nsawam, Appiah Peter, explained to Kasapa News that, the “three Cars all heading towards Accra were involved in the accident.

“The Sprinter Bus fully loaded with passengers hit the back of the H10 then the Toyota Saloon also crashed into the Sprinter. All the Passengers seriously injured have been sent to Nsawam Government Hospital but some will be referred to Koforidua and Korle Bu Teaching Hospitals”

The Nsawam Police has commenced investigations into the accident.
