Power supply has been denied to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation offices in Tarkwa in the Western region due to nonpayment of electricity bills.

The state broadcaster owes the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Gh¢ 300,000.

The ECG Regional Public Relations Officer Philip Osei Bonsu, in an interview with Kasapa FM’s Western regional correspondent, Emmanuel Ohene Gyan stated the ECG severally prompted GBC to settle its debt but it refused hence his outfit was left with no option than to cut power to its mast.

The disconnection means the people of Tarkwa and its environs will not have the pleasure of listening to radio and watching television programmes from GBC.

“We have also given the University of Mines and Technology to also settle it debt of Gh¢1,138,405 by the end of October or face disconnection,” Osei Bonsu told Gyan.
