The Member of Parliament for Sekondi constituency, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has donated over 200 dual desks, laptops, swivel chairs and a motorbike to the Metro Education Directorate for distribution to schools in the Sekondi constituency.

This is part of his commitment to improve teaching, learning and effective supervision in the constituency.

Hon Andrew Egyapa Mercer said he is committed to maintaining education as a priority area of focus as it remains the backbone of socio-economic development, irrespective of one’s geographical location.

He emphasized that public funds should be put to good use and that the items he presented to the Directorate were procured with his share of the GETFUND.

“Let us put in place measures to improve performance so that those investing will be motivated” he stressed.

He hinted that in addition some mono desks, hexagonal tables and chairs will soon be ready for distribution.

Hon Mercer also indicated that by God’s grace he has been able to successfully lobby Ghana Gas to support the Sekondi educational development drive by releasing funds for the construction of six units classroom block for Aggrey Memorial School at Baka-Ekyir in Sekondi.

The Metro Director of Education, MRS Elizabeth Akuako thanked the Member of Parliament for this kind gesture and promised him of effective supervision and good usage of the materials.
