The Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo says the possibility of he being removed from office does not worry him the least as he works to uncover corrupt acts in the country.
He has made the headlines in the past few days and faces a possible lawsuit by the Deputy Agric Minister after his report on the GETFund revealed that the Minister was a beneficiary of a scholarship to study abroad.
The opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has repeatedly claimed the A-G is being witch-hunted because of his investigations against the Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo in the payment of US$1 million to an international private audit firm, Kroll and Associates.
However, addressing the 3rd Regional Auditors Biannual Conference in the Volta Region Capital, Ho, the Auditor-General admonished them to be courageous in the face of attacks and compared the situation to that of Jesus Christ.
“…Jesus Christ…many times when I think about him I feel happy because I’m like this is somebody who goes and heels when we should be clapping for him, they are rather accusing him. He does good and people are attacking him so that is what it should be for auditors. If we come to Volta Region and they are praising you so much you are a bad auditor. So we’ll continue doing our work and I’ll like to say you need courage to discharge our work.
Mr Domelevo added: “Be courageous, nobody will kill you. The only thing that might happen is that you’ll lose your job but it’s not the end of life you may be transferred that’s not the end of life. I’ve said it several times, people say we’ll remove him like how they removed Charlotte Osei, I say who say I care. I don’t care, so if today I’m told that I’ve been removed that is it life doesn’t end here. I tell my children they shouldn’t worry at worse my father has a lot of farmland, I will go and farm and feed the family.”
