Management of the University of Cape Coast in consultation with the Central Regional Health Directorate has suspended until further notice all international conferences to be hosted by the university.

The move is to prevent members of the university community from contracting the deadly COVID -19 disease.

All international travels of staff are suspended until further notice.

According to a statement issued by the Directorate of Public Affairs of the school, all incoming and outgoing exchange programmes as well as international visits of  professors, foreign partners and collaborators are suspended until further notice.

“Staff already out on international travel should inform the University on arrival by contacting 0244785230 and self-quarantine for atleast five days before they report to offices. International programme organizers are to provide hand sanitizers at vantage points on campus. Heads of departments and office holders should provide hand sanitizers in their various offices,” the statement said.

It further noted that “internal programme organizers are to make hand sanitizers available on site. Hand shakes and other body contacts should be avoided. There’s no need for panic”

The statement concluded saying the Central Regional Health Directorate, University Health Directorate, School of Medical Sciences and the School of Nursing will collaborate to sensitize members on the COVID-19.
