Government has admonished Ghanaian public to use water responsibly in their homes despite the government absorbing water bills for the next three months.

Barely 24hrs after the announcement, Social media platforms were awashed with viral videos of some Ghanaians leaving their taps open and wasting water, while they filmed it and splashed it on social media.

Reacting to this, Deputy Information Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide in an interview on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 Fm questioned the motive of such few individuals.

“To what end will anybody do that? Even if you don’t like Akufo-Addo, or dislike his party, you must be a responsible citizen to protect and preserve national resources. This is reprehensible and we must all do well to use water wisely, even if it’s free,” he said in an interview with host Kweku Owusu Adjei.

No water bills for next 3 months

Government says it will absorb the water bills of all Ghanaians for the next three months.

President Akufo-Addo in a nationwide broadcast late Sunday indicated that the bills will cover the months of April, May and June.

Meanwhile, the government has assured a stable supply of power and water as the country battles to contain the deadly Coronavirus disease.

“In addition, there’ll be no disconnection of supply” he reiterated.

This, according to government is part of the practical measures to ease the lives of Ghanaians amidst the Lockdown measures by the State.
