Ghana’s premier electricity generation and distribution company, Volta River Authority (VRA), has donated Two Million Ghana Cedis (GHc 2,000,000.00) to the Covid-19 National Trust Fund established by government to be used as a medium for supporting the very needy and vulnerable in society as the country fights to overcome the novel Coronavirus, Covid-19.

Several other companies and institutions, today the 15th of April 2020, also presented cheques totalling Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 500,000.00). Amongst them are the Association of Oil Marketing Companies, Polytex Industries Limited, Aglow International Prayers, Frankatson Limited, Alpha Lotto Limited, Church of Pentecost, and Betonsa Ghana Limited.

VRA

Mr. Kwaku Awotwi, the Board Chairman of VRA, Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Martin Adjoe, a member of the leadership of the National Senior Staff Association of the VRA, presented their cheque of Two Million Ghana Cedis on behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of the VRA to the Chairperson of the Trust Fund, Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo (Rtd).

Association of Oil Marketing Companies

The Association of Oil Marketing Companies, through the Chairperson of the Association, Johnny Blagogee, presented a cheque of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 100,000.00) to the Fund.

Polytex Industries

The packaging solutions company, Polytex Industries Limited through its Marketing Manager, Emmanuel Sankah, presented their cheque of Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 50,000.00) to the Trust Fund.

Aglow / Frankatson

Aglow International Prayers through their Greater Accra Aglow Area Chairperson, Florence Sandra Whyte, was present to submit to the trustees a cheque of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 20,000.00) as their contribution towards the work of the fund. Similarly, Frankatson Limited, presented a cheque of Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis Cedis (GHc 30,000.00) and a fumigation machine worth Four Thousand, Four Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHc 4,400.00) to the Trust Fund.

Alpha Lotto

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alpha Lotto Limited, Kenneth Kwame Asare, led his outfit to present their contribution of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 100,000.00).

Church of Pentecost

The Church of Pentecost, ably represented by their General Secretary, Apostle Alexander Kumi-Larbi, was next to present. The Church donated a cheque of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis, (GHc 100,000.00) to the Trust Fund.

Betonsa Ghana

The last company to make an appearance at the Trust Fund Secretariat was Betonsa Ghana Limited, a premix concrete company. Mr. Kennedy Amoako, the Finance Manager, and the General Manager, Zafer Elbatir, came through to present a cheque One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis, (GHc 100,000.00) to aid the fund to execute its mandate.

The Trustees

The Chairperson and lead trustee of the Trust Fund, Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo (Rtd), received all the donations on behalf of the Fund, ably supported by two members of the board, Mr. Ofori Sarpong, and Mrs. Gifty Afenyi -Dadzie.
Justice Sophia Akuffo expressed the deep appreciation of the state to all the donors. She reiterated the commitment of the Fund to ensure judicious use of the monies accruing to it out of the benovelence of companies, institutions and individuals in Ghana.
