The role of Creative Art in national development cannot be underestimated.
In order to realize this role, there must be some requisite structures set up and regulated appropriately.
Unlike many other institutions in Ghana, the art industry has gotten less recognition from the government. Like the western countries where art is being recognized and given support from the government to boost the sector, Ghana’s case is the exact opposite.
In an interview on Kasapa Entertainment with host, Eddie Ray, Creative art Consultant Mr. Benjamin Arhin known as Bnoskka has lamented the plight of the industry and says it has a weak foundation.
According to him, there should be measures or strategies put in place to rescue the industry in emergency situations.
Bnoskka stated that the industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic and just as other business sectors have incurred significant loses, the art industry is not an exception but if there is a special fund set aside, it would have been used to support the industry.
He further stressed that there should be a performer’s right where all artistes could be regulated and given much recognition where necessary.
In order to achieve this there must be Equity, Transparency and Accountability, he added.
