The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) Dr Abu Sakara Foster says all the Nkrumahists parties, risk being pushed over Ghana’s political landscape in the 2016 election, if they remain disunited and contest elections individually.

According to him, the two leading parties, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are consistently contracting the political space so that there is no standing space, a situation he says makes it crucial for a united front ahead of the 2016 election.

The Nkrumahists parties have individually contested elections since 1992 elections, during which they perform poorly year after year.

The parties have tried unsuccessfully to form an alliance to contest elections, but that move has failed to materialize over the years as there have been disagreements on what name and symbol to use going into those elections.

Speaking to Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM, Dr Abu Abu Sakara Foster who is a Development Agronomist by profession emphasized that the time has come for the parties to take that bold decision of uniting themselves, adding that the parties remain disunited to their own disadvantage.

“If we do not come together and hold hands, we surely are going to be pushed off the political scene all together. When you look at the last election, the CPP, PNC, PPP, GCPP all put together we had less than one percent. This tells you that the NDC and NPP are taking over the political space leaving virtually none for the other parties. Sometimes you have to use numbers and not only talk out of emotions. Our unity must come at the cost of personal ambitions, egos, selfishness and at the expense of hard work so that our goals are achieved”.
