The fifth presentation of economic tools and financial support to Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) within the Kwahu South District was held today, 6th May, 2020 at the forecourt of the District Assembly Hall.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Kwahu South District Assembly, Emmanuel Atta Ofori stated that the H.E. Nana Akufo Addo led Government is focused on improving the livelihood of Persons living with Disabilities (PWDs) in the country as he believes ‘disability is not inability’.
The District Social Development Officer, Mr. Fred Cobbinah was grateful to the DCE and entire management of the Kwahu South District Assembly for coming to the aid of Persons living with Disabilities (PWDs) in this era of COVID-19. He further entreated beneficiaries to make good use of the money and working tools that were presented to them.
He also took time to educate them on the precautionary measures of COVID-19 such as the washing of hands regularly, social distancing and use of face mask. He gave the breakdown of items to be presented as follows: Deep freezers, ice chests, fridge stabilizers, personal energy transport vehicles, hand sewing machines, scissors, tape measures, boxes of sewing thread, electronic tool kit, electronic blower, farm spraying machines, wheelbarrows, long rake, cutlasses, hoes, wellington boots and fufu pounding machine.
The District Chief Executive advised Persons living with Disabilities (PWDs) to adhere strictly to the Ministry of Health protocols to combat the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
He added that, items provided should be used effectively and efficiently to better their lives and also entreated them to cultivate the culture of maintenance.
A total of twenty-six (26) Persons living with Disabilities (PWDs) benefited. Out of which ten (10) were supported financially with an amount of GH¢1,000.00 each and the remaining sixteen (16) were supported with working tools.
Madam Grace Osei on behalf of Persons living with Disabilities (PWDs) thanked the District Chief Executive and the entire management for the support and assured them that they would make good use of the items.
