Over 50% of the current quantum leap in relation to Ghana’s covid-19 case count were as a result of an outbreak in an industrial facility in the country, the Ghana Health Service has confirmed.

The facility, believed to be located within the Tema metropolis has about 1300 workforce out of which 533 have been confirmed positive.

A total of 921 additional cases have been recorded between the last update on 4th May 2020 and the current update, 7th May 2020 bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 4,012.

A total of 18 deaths have been recorded for the same period. In addition, there have been a total of 323 recoveries.

Ghana’s cases under care (active cases) as of 7th May 2020 thus stands at 3,671.

Currently, the only regions in Ghana with no confirmed cases of COVID-19 are the Savannah, Bono East and Ahafo regions.
