Enock Darko

Ghanaian comedian and actor Enock Darko has declared that he is presently part of Nigerian Film Industry (Nollywood).

The first runner up of TV3’s Talented Kids reality show indicated that his decision to join Nollywood was as a result of the Ghanaian Film Industry which is in a disarray.

In an interview with Eddie Ray, host of Kasapa Entertainment on Kasapa102.5fm, Darko stated that Nigerian Film Industry is more productive since they are globally recognised as the second largest film producer in the world.

“I’m now in Nigeria acting in Nollywood movies. I left for Nigeria because the Ghanaian movie industry wasn’t productive enough.

“I’ve stayed in Nigeria for two years and I can say for a fact that their industry is worth joining as an actor. I want to focus on myself and build my acting career well.” Enock Darko told Eddie Ray

He vowed to make a u-turn when the Ghanaian Film Industry is fixed.

“For now, I’ve stopped acting in Ghanaian movies. I’ll be part of the Ghanaian film industry when the system is fixed.

Stating reasons he relocated to Nigeria, he said some actors bad-mouth other actors. He also noted that there is so much hatred in the industry that some people would even resort to juju to hurt others to get to the top.

“I relocated to Nigeria to be part of their film industry because the Ghanaian movie industry is full of backbiting and juju especially Kumawood.

“Some Ghanaian actors envy their colleagues when they see them progressing in the industry. Other actors will decline to be in the same movie project with you because they think you’ll outshine them.” Enock revealed

According to him, some colleague actors seem uncomfortable to be on same movie project with him, thinking he would outshine them.

Darko further indicated that Ghanaian screens are flooded with foreign contents making most Ghanaian filmmakers jobless.

“Currently, some actors in Ghana are jobless because the industry is in shambles. The Ghana movie industry declined because of the foreign contents being shown on various television platforms during prime time. Nigeria movie industry has a channel which promotes their local contents and their television stations show more of their local contents than foreign contents,” he added

Enock Darko relocated to Nigeria two years ago and has featured in almost fifty movies with top Nigerian actors like Anayo Modestus Onyekwere popularly known as Kanayo O. Kanayo, Chief Pete Edochie, Osita Iheme, Destiny Etiko and many others.

“I’ve featured in almost 50 movies when I relocated to Nigeria. I’ve acted with well known Nigeria actors like Chief Pete Edochie, Osita Iheme, Destiny Etiko and many others.
