The Ghana Police Service has reportedly reopened its Training School in the Eastern region despite closure of schools by the President.
The recruits of the Training School who were asked to go home when President Akufo Addo directed closure of educational institutions and banned public gatherings have been recalled.
On Sunday May 12,2020, President Akufo-Addo announced the extension of the ban on public gathering till the end of the month.
However, Kasapa FM’s Eastern regional correspondent, Kojo Ansah reports that recruits at Koforidua Training School have been recalled amidst the coronavirus scare.
Kojo Ansah revealed the recruits, were nonetheless not medically screened before being allowed to enter their hostels.
“They started arriving from Sunday. More than 100 have arrived so far,” he disclosed.
The recruits were seen Wednesday morning tidying up the environment of the Koforidua Police Training School.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command DSP Ebenezer Tetteh refused to comment on the matter saying the national headquarters is best placed to respond to questions over the reopening.
Ghana has recorded 5127 confirmed cases of coronavirus with recoveries at 494. Another 130 patients are awaiting their second negative test to be declared recovered. 22 people have so far died from the killer bug with active cases at 4, 611.
