A year-old baby boy has been identified among three persons who died in a gory accident on Nsawam to Adieso highway on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
The fatal motor accident occurred about 7:30 am according to the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh.
He said a yet to be identified driver in charge of Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number GE 4369-11 from New Abrem to Accra with ten passengers on board, on reaching a section of the road at Anoff, on the Nsawam – Adeiso main motor road, the driver allegedly overtook an unidentified vehicle and crashed head-on with a Howo tipper truck with registration number GT 9928-20 at the opposite lane.
He said, the impact pushed another Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number GT 5747-19, being driven by Samuel Cabo, 41, which was behind the tipper truck with ten occupants and plunged into a gutter at the offside edge of the road, injuring all two drivers and the occupants of their vehicles.
DSP Ebenezer Tetteh said, the Victims, including the suspect drivers, were rushed to Nsawam Government hospital and Adeiso Health Center for medical attention, however, the driver in charge of Toyota Hiace bus with registration number GE 4369-11, an unidentified male with age around 45 and the One-year-old boy on board his vehicle were pronounced dead on arrival at Nsawam Government hospital.
The bodies of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital for identification, preservation and autopsy, whilst two adult females and one adult male yet to be identified had been referred to Korle- Bu Teaching hospital for intensive care.
Other victims are responding to treatment.
All the accident vehicles have been extensively damaged but towed from the accident scene.
