Government has served notice that it will shut down churches and mosques that fail to comply with the new COVID-19 directives issued Monday night.
President Akufo Addo in his 10th address to the nation of the fight against COVID-19 on Sunday eased restrictions on churches, mosques and the universities to reopen this week.
The Minister for Religious Affairs addressing a press conference on Monday evening stated that any church or mosque or other religious bodies that violate the laid down protocols will be dealt with severely.
“A church, mosque, or other religious bodies in violation could be closed down. The leaders of the church will equally be held liable. The District assemblies and monitoring teams are on hand to ensure compliance with the directives.”
Ghana’s COVID-19 cases have shot up to 8,070, as at Sunday, May,31,2020, President Akufo-Addo has disclosed.
The recoveries have also increased significantly to 2,947, while the death toll still stands at 36.
