Former WBO Bantamweight Champion Alfred ‘Cobra’ Kotey has died in the United States of America.

The Ghanaian boxer passed on after suffering a stroke and other health complications that he had battled for some time now.

Born 3rd June 1968 in Bukom, Kotey represented Ghana at the 1988 Summer Olympics and held the WBO Bantamweight Championship after defeating then-champion Rafael del Valle, a Puerto Rican.

He defended the title on two occasions and after that lost it in 1995.
