A Parliamentary aspirant for the Klottey Korle constituency on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings has revealed that she made her first solo flight as a pilot at the tender age of thirteen(13) years.

Flying a plane will forever remain a fantasy for most Ghanaian teenagers, but that was made possible for Zanetor because she was privileged to have had her father as the President of Ghana, at the time she learnt to fly an aircraft.

She was good at flying as she was tutored by her father Jerry John Rawlings, a retired Air force pilot and one of the best fighter jet pilots Ghana has ever had, making Zanetor’s feat not surprising for most Ghanaians.

Speaking to Bernard Avle on the Ghana Report Show on Viasat 1 Television, Dr Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings stated that she admired her father’s prowess at flying jets and so was so eager to learn how to fly.

“My dad thought me how to fly at a very young age, I was a daring young girl and I took the challenge of learning to fly. Indeed I did my first solo flight at 13 years and that was an exciting experience”.

She noted that growing up she had wanted to be an Air force officer and so did not hesitate to join the Airforce cadet corps at the Wesley Girls High School which was the first female Air force cadet corps to be formed in any second cycle school in the country, of which Dr Zanetor was the first commander.

Dr Zanetor who is a trained medical practitioner after being cleared by the party is contesting in the NDC upcoming primaries on November 7, and she’s viewed by some political watchers as having a good chance in unseating the incumbent MP for the area and former Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Nii Armah Ashietey.
