In his first interview as an Arsenal player, Thomas Partey discusses joining the club, the Arsenal legends he admired and the ‘crazy’ fans.

Even now, 16 years later, Thomas Partey can remember just how good the Invincibles were in their pomp.

Partey grew up in Ghana watching Arsene Wenger’s famous side of 2003/04, and is excited to follow in their footsteps.

“I feel so great, excited, it is something that makes me feel great, makes me feel important and it is a great feeling to be here,” Partey told Arsenal.com.

“I have followed Arsenal for a long time. When we were young we used to watch so many games, when they had the Invincibles season in 2004, they were so great. That is when they won the hearts of so many people.

“There were a lot of great players [here at the club] before. Ian Wright was here, Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Pires, Bergkamp was one of the greatest, and that season was great.”

The Ghana international midfielder, who signed on transfer deadline day, flew in on Tuesday morning and had his official photoshoot at London Colney.
