The Local Council of Churches of Awutu Papaase #1 Community has embarked on a day’s peace walk ahead of the December 7 general elections.

The walk which took them through the principal street of Awutu Papaase saw members of the local Churches in the area displaying placards peaching about peace.

Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of the program Pastor Eric Antwi who doubles as a Pastor of Assemblies of God at Awutu Papaase said, they organized the program to emphasize the need for Ghana to continue to enjoy peace even as we go to the polls to decide who rules the country.

“We want to tell the people in the area, especially the Youths to stay away from any Political violence that may take their lives just because of elections. I urge parents to also advise their children to stay away from being used for political violence before, during, and after the elections. It is the responsibility of the Church to also educate their members to take good care of themselves as we head for elections,” Pastor Eric Antwi stated.

The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West Constituency Hon. George Nenyi Andah encouraged other churches in the Awutu Senya West District to also imitate what the Local Council of Churches in the Awutu Papaase has done in order for the youth especially to know and appreciate the importance of peace as far as election is concern.

The Kasoa Ofaakor Police Commander DSP Samual Amfoh on his part promised to ensure effective security in all the areas during the election to ensure a peaceful exercise.
