Former Presidents John Mahama and John Agyekum Kufuor are billed to sign the book of condolence opened for the late President Jerry John Rawlings on Monday, November 16, 2020, the State Protocol Department has disclosed.

This is in response to the accusation from the NDC General Secretary that they were prevented by officials of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government from signing the book of condolence at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Mr Asiedu Netiah had claimed that the leadership of the party and its flagbearer, former President John Mahama, as well as some members of the late Rawlings’ family were told that the government had taken the book away and that it intended to return it on Monday.

But a statement issued by State Protocol said per arrangements, the two former heads of state are expected to sign the book between 10:15am and 10.45am on Monday.

This is “due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Meanwhile, other top state officials and groups will also sign the book between Monday [November 16] and Friday [November 20].
