The governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Lower West Akim, Charles Acheampong, has won the seat for the party, according to available certified result by the Electoral Commission.

He polled 27, 527, to beat his main contender from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Michael Adu-Sei, who garnered 19,744 votes.

Acheampong’s win affirms the dominance of the NPP in the constituency since 2000.

In the Presidential poll, President Akufo-Addo of the NPP polled 28,854, while John Dramani Mahama of the NDC polled 17,699 votes from the total valid votes cast of 47,164.

A total of 1,254 votes were rejected.
