The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia says members of the National Peace Council(NPC) who visited the party’s headquarters in Accra were only insulted and intimidated.

Members of the NPC who intervened to engage the leadership of the NDC over their rejection of the results of the election declared by the Electoral Commission (EC) claimed they were attacked by some NDC supporters.

According to the Chairman of the NPC, Rev Dr Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, the incident “traumatized” some of the members of the NPC and had to be psychologically recomposed before they can re-engage the leadership of the NDC.

The incidents are said to have happened in the residence of the NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama and the party’s national headquarters at Adabraka in Accra.

“We were attacked, two of our vehicles were damaged and we thought that, that was very very unfortunate.”

“When we met the leadership [of the NDC], they were very cooperative in terms of our discussions, and we thought those incidents were very very unfortunate, and it shouldn’t happen again,” Rev Dr Ernest Adu-Gyamfi told Joy FM.

But speaking in an interview on Joy News monitored by Kasapafmonline.com, Johnson Asiedu Nketia stated that the insult on the delegation was just a critique of the conduct of the Peace Council.

The National Peace Council members were not attacked, I was there. People just came down to insult and intimidate them that they are not truthful.”

Asked if the insults and intimidation do not amount to an attack.

The NDC scribe responded “Please, if they are referring to the past conduct of the Peace Council… don’t you know that the Peace Council is part of this problem? When the Electoral Commission was doing the wrong things, the governing party was attacking people in Ayawaso West Wuogon and the Peace Council came in, they condoned that look, let’s find peace, appeasement, appeasement.”
