The Ghana National Council of private schools, GNACOPS, has replied to the Ghana National Association of Teachers,(GNAT) telling the latter that it can only advise the government to close down public schools but not private schools.

According to GNACOPS, the sole decision taken by some teacher unions to advise the government to close down schools again, just after few hours of reopening of schools is unfortunate.

GNAT has in a release thrown its weight behind various institutions calling for re-closure of basic schools due to lack of personal protective equipment, PPEs.

Contrary to their request and recommendation, the Ghana National Council of private schools, GNACOPS, has also in a press release signed by its National Communications Director, Samuel Nyamekye firmly kicked against the re-closure of schools since private schools in the country are ready and have the expertise to manage the current situation.

According to the council, schools have been on lockdown for almost ten months whilst other activities go on in the country.

This to a higher level will affect learners learning and producing healthy learners for building a strong society.
